Author David Wilcox retired medically from the Oceanside Police Department in his home town of Oceanside, California. He was one of the most highly-decorated officers in the history of the department and a multiple gold-medalist in swimming in the Police Olympics during his law enforcement career. In 1985, he swapped coasts, moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to attend graduate school at Regent University. While there, he was selected to work as an executive protection officer (aka bodyguard) for Pat Robertson, the Founder and President of the Christian Broadcasting Network. It was an exciting and challenging time to be at Pat Robertson’s side. Always a controversial lightning rod, Pat Robertson was just beginning a political campaign in his quest to become the Republican party candidate for President of the United States. David’s job was to keep Pat Robertson safe and alive while traveling the globe. His first book, ‘Protecting Pat Robertson - Confessions of a High-Priced Bagman’ is part memoir mixed with exposé. In it, David shares the revelatory truth of what it was like during those exciting yet challenging years. This book is the first of two memoir-style books he has written thus far. His other book, ‘The Trial of the Devil Incarnate: Ralph Reed – God’s Flim-Flam Man’ exposes the scandalous truth about the duplicitous Ralph Reed, the former Executive Director of Pat Robertson’s Christian Coalition. It reveals the shameful facts about the man the Huffington Post labeled as ‘one of the monumental hypocrites of our time’ in an innovative and entertaining format. A ‘tell-it-like-it-was’ author, David Wilcox pulls no punches revealing the behind-the-scenes truth about being Pat Robertson’s personally selected bodyguard. The revelations will leave you amused, bewildered and even shocked.

Always a controversial lightning rod, Pat Robertson was beginning a political campaign to become the Republican party candidate for President of the United States. David’s job was to keep Pat Robertson safe and alive while traveling the globe. This book is part memoir mixed with exposé. In it, David Wilcox shares the revelatory truth of what it was like during those exciting, controversial, and yet challenging years traveling the globe with Pat Robertson. The book creatively combines a series of recollections, remembrances, and anecdotal stories about his years of service as Pat’s bodyguard with the revelatory truth about his controversial idiosyncratic boss and the sometimes unlawful activities of Pat Robertson. Or, as David put it, “I drank the Kool-Aid. I played the part. Worst of all, I contributed to the ‘sales job’ or what I like to call the ‘Pat Robertson Traveling Salvation Road Show.” But his journey with Pat didn’t start that way. When he began, Pat Robertson was doing some incredible and inspiring things through his international CBN ministry. David was eager and proud to join a team of dedicated people who supported Pat’s vision of helping people worldwide. But as we all know, times change, and people also change. So did Pat Robertson.
A ‘tell-it-like-it-was’ author, David Wilcox pulls no punches in revealing the behind-the-scenes truth about being Pat Robertson’s personally selected bodyguard. The revelations will leave you amused, bewildered, and even shocked. But it’s all the ‘God’s honest’ truth.
Ralph Reed should be in prison.
Between 2001 and 2004, Ralph Eugene Reed, Jr., the former Executive Director of Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition, and his two close confederates, Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon, conspired to bilk several Indian tribes out of tens of millions of dollars. Ralph Reed became rich in the process. In September of 2004, as a direct result of their illicit activities, Abramoff, Scanlon, and a handful of others were called to testify before Senator John McCain’s Senate Committee on Indian Affairs in Washington, DC. However, Ralph Reed was never called upon to do the same, despite his name appearing over two hundred times in the final Senate Committee Investigation report. Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon later served prison time due to their actions. But not Ralph Reed. Despite overwhelming evidence proving it, Ralph Reed has never been held accountable for his many crimes. That is, until now. The “Trial of the Devil Incarnate” finds the duplicitous Ralph Reed under oath as a fictional Senate Investigative Committee uncovers his decades-long career operating from the shadows. A career filled with scandalous, immoral, and often flat-out illegal activities. This ‘questioning’ reveals the truth about his blatant disregard for the law, his unabashed hypocrisy, and the plethora of flat-out lies and manufactured propaganda he has exploited to support his bank account through flimflammery and deceit.
And it has all been done ‘in the name of Jesus.’
